Our Vision
Our vision for this project is to create a realistic, detailed, multi-building mock-up for BFCA students to get hands-on experience in what they will see in the field, and learn how to apply it to building, mechanical, plumbing, electric, and fire sprinkler codes.
Our founder, Richard Piccolo, has been planning this project for several years and we are excited to begin to make it a reality.
The mock-up will consist of a single-family home, a town house, a commercial building, and a sprinkler and fire alarm area.
About the Structures
The two-story, fully-functional house (including restroom, HVAC unit, and fireplace) will show varying stages of construction. The house will have mistakes built into it so that students can see what code violations look like in real life.
The town house will be built with no mistakes, as example of a fully-code compliant building.
Why is This Project so Important?
One consistent piece of feedback we receive from our students is: more hands-on training! Having the opportunity to see both compliance and violations in a real-world setting is an invaluable educational tool, and better education results in better code enforcement, which leads to safer homes and buildings.
